Also packed with such unnatural risky styles which was really cost lot of guts.

Diadaptasi dari memoir Eat, Pray, Love karya Elizabeth Gilbert.

Ini adalah film yang dulu pemberitaannya sempat marak sekali di stasiun-stasiun televisi dan di forum-forum internet lokal. Saking hebohnya pemberitaan film ini (setidaknya bagi saya), saya sendiri sampa merasa agaknya terlalu hiperbolik. Saya belum pernah membaca bukunya, yang saya tahu (dari Google), Elizabeth Gilbert adalah wanita yang cantik dan buku tersebut cukup sukses di pasaran. Salah satu review yang tidak sengaja saya baca memuji kemampuan Elizabeth Gilbert “menangkap momen-per-momen dari perjalanan eksotisnya.” Perjalanan Elizabeth Gilbert tersebut divisualisasikan oleh Ryan Murphy, sutradara Glee. Sayangnya saya tidak merasakan “momen-per-momen” dari film ini.

Ada film yang memang ditujukan untuk berpesan (menyampaikan pesan), entah itu pesan moral, pesan sosial, politikal, atau berbagai macam pesan-pesan lainnya. Beberapa film tersebut berhasil menyampaikan pesannya dengan baik, tidak lain karena didiukung oleh eksekusi total yang bagus. sayangnya ada juga film dengan pesan baik tetap saja gagal menjadi film yang bagus. Kegagalan ini bisa disebabkan oleh banyak poin, beberapanya karena eksekusi yang sangat memprihatinkan. Jamila dan Sang Presiden ini salah satunya.

APA yang akan saya tulis tentang film aksi pertama Indonesia sejak tahun 2000-an ini? Sejak perfilman Indonesia dihantui (kiasan dari dikuasai) oleh pebisnis-pebisnis yang hanya mau meraup duit dari horror-horror sampah dan film-film sempak dan beha, muncul judul yang menawarkan film aksi: “Merantau”. Well, saya cukup penasaran, meskipun sebenarnya saya tidak terlalu suka dengan film-film Muaythai-nya Jean Claude Van Damme yang bisa dikatakan “tipikal”. Karena itu lah, saya tidak terlalu menaruh ekspektasi tinggi ketika hendak menyimak film ini. Setidaknya, melihat nama sutradaranya yang bukan Indonesia, saya tetap berharap sebuah kelas produk profesional (bukan amatiran layaknya film-film laga lokal di tivi-tivi) dari film laga ini.
