ELEPHANT (2003) — Elephant is a piece of work that should be commended for its bravery. Such compliments are mainly intended to for Gus Van Sant's guts on using such non-linear and unusual narrative spectacle. Also packed with such unnatural risky styles which was really cost lot of guts.

Saya sendiri tidak mau munafik, kalau memang bodi yang dicari, saya pasti lebih memilih “The Blue Lagoon” ketimbang “Calendar Girls.”

Kalau biasanya dipertontonkan film-film bertema emansipasi wanita; “Million Dollar Baby,” dan judul-judul setipe lainnya. “Billy Elliot” malah mempertontonkan emansipasi pria – kurang lebih. Garis besarnya, film ini mengkritisi persoalan diskriminasi gender.
